Description

The arch was the ancient Porta di San Maurizio al Ponte in the thirteenth-century walls and got its name from the small church of San Maurizio (popularly called Samoreci) and from the drawbridge that lay just outside.

Today it is a round arch with an attic supported by corbels and with two niches inside that house busts of Medici grand dukes.
