The church, which has undergone several restorations both outside and inside, was built in 1470 by the Brothers Hospitaller of Saint Anthony of Vienne: the characteristic "tau" can be seen on a side pillar of the building.
Inside, a painted terracotta altarpiece depicting the "Assumption and Saints" graces the central stone frame of the altar; on the left is the grandiose tabernacle painted in 1455 by Priamo della Quercia depicting Saint Anthony the Abbot and Saints (characteristically, at the saint's feet is the scene of the carriage of salt on a mule) from the ancient salt customs house; right, a panel by Cosimo Daddi depicting Christ carrying the cross and the Veronica, painted for the Compagnia di Sant'Alessandro, where it comes from.

When we enter the church, we find on the right wall a painting of the 'Madonna of the Rosary and Saint Dominic'.
