The current building faces Monreale Cathedral, on the west side of Piazza Guglielmo II , next to the outer wall of the first city layout, incorporating one of the towers of the original Norman defense system .
The Church of Reconciliation was built on the initiative of the Compagnia del SS. Sacramento, around the end of the 15th century on a pre-existing Arab building.
The church has a rectangular plan with a single nave and is the first church in Monreale not to take into account the placement of the altar to the east.
The perimeter wall of the square has medieval scores in the inner wall of the church. The current location of the entrance certainly seems to have been determined by the presence of the 'procession way' built in 1583 by Archbishop Ludovico Torres I. Light enters through rectangular windows open on the long sides. On the inside of the church , a wall from the Norman period has been exposed, decorated with 'blind ogival architecture'. This is located below the current walking level of both the church and the square, requiring stairs to be descended to enter.
