The lighthouse is located at the tip of Capo San Vito about 1.5 km north of San Vito Lo Capo. It has been in use since 1859.
The lighthouse consists of a single storey white building occupied by the lighthouse keeper with the adjoining 40m high lighthouse tower with lantern and gallery.
The lighthouse consists of a main light and a lantern in the main light tower. The main lighthouse is equipped with rotating optics and emits white flashes, with a period of 5 seconds, with a range of 25 nautical miles.
