The church belongs to the Poor Clares Monastery and has been extensively renovated over the centuries. The facade is 19th century and has late baroque modules.
The original core dates from the year in which the Jews were expelled from the district . On that occasion, the viceroy granted the Dominicans the storey Barlaci and a monastery was built in their name where the Poor Clares settled.
However, the current layout dates back to the early decades of the 17th century when, after the original buildings fell into disrepair, a project was promoted to rebuild the monastery.
A historical event concerns the nun Lucy's strong wish to be able to hear the Holy Mass on the day dedicated to the 'Presentation of the Blessed Virgin'. But this was not possible because the house had not been assigned a priest .
But while she was in the church, two angels appeared to her and, having spread out a tablecloth , they prepared the altar for the celebration. Then Christ the Lord descended from heaven, disguised as a priest , accompanied by many spirits, and celebrated the Holy Mass...
