The Church of San Michele, also known in full as Chiesa di San Michele e biagio , is located on Piazza Vittorio Emanuele.
In the neighborhood of Curcuraccio or Terra Soprana, the Church of Saints Michael and Biagio was founded in 1510 by the Archconfraternity of the same name within which the Capuchin Fathers lived in 1585.
From an architectural point of view, the church has a very simple structure , the interior has a single nave with the choir and four side altars, the façade - of modest stylistic value - has a stone portal presumably from the end of the 16th century.
The main altar is decorated with a large altarpiece painted on canvas depicting the Madonna degli Angeli and Child between Saint Michael and Biagio . It is an original sixteenth century composition well balanced in the arrangement of the figures drawn with skill and attractive for that grandeur of style and harmony of colors which the author - Antonio Spatafora - had learned in the workshop of his great master Vincenzo De Pavia said the Roman.
On the right side of the presbytery hangs a painting by the Caccamese painter Luigi Rizzo from 1815 depicting the Pietà.
Among the sculptures, the 15th century baptismal font consisting of a pedestal with acanthus leaf buds and the shell-shaped basin should be emphasized; perhaps the two pieces were created by two different sculptors and later modified as they appear today.
