The church existed since 1300. It is adjacent to the monastery of Badia Grande, which is now used as a school building (to prevent the oppression of the monastery due to the laws of 1866, they organized school activities from 1862). It was rebuilt in the mid-16th century and in the years 1690-1697; it was restored in 1737.
The monastery was closed in 1906. The building was subsequently used first as a barracks , then as a primary school, kindergarten and vocational school.
Until a few years ago , Holy Mass was celebrated every Wednesday evening in Latin , accompanied by the Gregorian and polyphonic chant of the choir "Jacopone da Todi". Cultural activities particularly related to sacred and ancient song are also held in the church. The choir itself usually uses the church on Sunday afternoons and Wednesday evenings.
