Built in 1615 on the site of the suppressed Ospedale degli Incurabili, it received its current structure in 1689.
The church is located in a large block between Palazzo Rocca and Palazzo Triolo S. Anna and overlooks Corso 6 Aprile, the city's main thoroughfare. Thanks to this privileged position , despite being outside the sixteenth-century core liturgically dominated by the Mother Church, the church over time acquired increasing importance in the context of its function, so much so that it was already in the was elevated to an autonomous parish in the 17th century.
Given the inevitable increase in the number of parishioners, a total renovation became necessary, which was completed in 1702 . The facade with its robust architectural frame dates from 1782.
On the facade you can see two bell towers with four bells hanging in them.
The church has three naves separated by two rows of four monolithic columns made of red marble from nearby Mount Bonifato . The church contains the baptistery and 4 other chapels.
