The Spanish Quarter is a ruin that stands on a very picturesque rocky platform , one of the most beautiful panoramic points in Erice! Its construction dates back to the 17th century, the period of Spanish rule.
It was intended to be the headquarters and accommodation of the Spanish soldiers , but the work was never completed.
The construction was never completed and the reasons are still uncertain. Among the hypotheses established, two are the most reliable: the transfer of the military headquarters to another place or the expulsion of the Spaniards from Sicily.
The ruin, located in a privileged location that dominates the entire valley from above. The structure remained abandoned for centuries.
Today the Spanish Quarter has been restored and is used as a tourist reception.
