Temple of Hephaestus or Temple of Vulcan - Agrigento

The Temple of Hephaestus, dating from about 430 BC, is probably the youngest among the buildings in the Valley of the Temples of Agrigento.

The ruins of the Temple of Vulcan are located near Gate V, on the west side of the Hill of the Temples. Between 1928 and 29, numerous restorations were carried out and the farms leaning against the temple were removed. Today it is possible to see very little of the old structure as only part of the foundation remains with the high stone steps of the base and the remains of two columns.

The Temple of Vulcan can only be reached directly via the Temples Tourist Railway with a stop specially constructed in 2001. Anyone who also books access to the garden of Kolymbethra when visiting the Valley of the Temples can reach the temple via this road.
