In the center of Piazza
The monument is presented (or at least should be presented, if it were a little more refined) in a gold color as a symbol of purity (the same as the people who fought against the mafia) and in a silver color to let the columns stand out. Everything was then finished in a satin finish so as not to disturb motorists with the sun's reflections.
The controversy lies in the fact that, in order to place this mausoleum in the center of the square, another mausoleum was moved, namely the obelisk dedicated to the 13 victims. Many argue that the square has been marred in this way, while others see the importance of this sculpture as an important modern symbol. The fact is that the people of Palermo do not seem to agree on this issue and the Piazza XIII Vittime still causes a lot of discussion today!
