In 1875, the powerful Florio family, who had their villa on this square, built this stage, intended to receive music bands for parties, fairs and events.
However, the real purpose of the construction was to prevent Piazza Castelnuovo from being used for housing.
The structure is of white marble , in neoclassical style, with twenty Corinthian columns supporting an entablature decorated with palmettes.
