Monte Kronio, also known as Monte San Calogero due to the presence of the cave where the saint died and the sanctuary erected in his name, is the highest part of the Saccense territory.
A nature reserve extends over the entire mountain, characterized by a pine forest and some patches of rock vegetation, while the summit is home to birds of prey, including the kestrel and the rare hawk-eagle. The uniqueness of this mountain is related to the presence of vapor-like phenomena that, rising along the network of tunnels that cross the mountain , emerge from the upper karst cavities, included in the modern spa building .
In the halls on the top floor of the thermal complex there is a small Antiquarium where archaeological material from prehistory and history is exhibited, resulting from excavations and research carried out over the last century in the karst hypogeous complex located in the mountain develops.
