The church is named after San Pedro (St. Peter), the patron saint of fishermen.
Every year the Sea Festival – Feast of St. Peter takes place on the last weekend of June. Four days in which religious moments alternate with entertainment activities and seminars on Sciacca fish.
In addition to the procession of Saint Nicholas through the streets of the historic district and the traditional 'Ntinna a mari' (a kind of maypole is located on the sea: a long tree trunk greased with soap and tallow hangs almost horizontally on the water overlooking the pier .The aim of the race is to try to reach a flag placed at the end of the 'ntinna, without falling into the water) there are cabaret performances, musical entertainment, a frying pan with the tasting of Gambero Rosa di Sciacca coppo , an amusement park, show cooking and many activities, collateral and news, including the street food village.
