The monastery was built in the thirteenth century and later rebuilt in the 15th century.
Currently used as a prison, there are few remains of the old structure. Inside a Gothic style monastery (Convent of S. Alberto) from the eighteenth century. The entrance consists of a baroque portal.
St. Alberto lived in the monastery, after whom the Gothic monastery was named. The saint had a well built in the monastery, the water of which was drunk by the faithful on August 7 out of devotion.
