The Stadsschouwburg is a jewel of local craftsmanship from the first half of the 19th century.
The Theater was built between 1848 and 1851 at the expense of a group of bourgeois, open to artistic, literary and patriotic influences, but also creators of autonomous promotional initiatives.
The city theater has the classic horseshoe shape with a flattened dome vault, three rows of boxes, stalls and a large stage with a capacity of 264 seats. A white marble staircase leads to the entrance of the theater. Once through the main entrance, you enter an atrium, on the left of which is the ticket office and from which three staircases arise, one main and two lateral, from which you access the stalls and the boxes respectively.
Worth mentioning are the Art Nouveau illustrations with frescoes by the master Domenico Ferrara. The interior is illuminated by a grandiose Bohemian glass chandelier. On the second floor there is a small foyer.
