The sculpture, created by Palermo artist Gabriele Venanzio in September 2014.
The inhabitants of Sambuca have always been labeled with the name "sammucari babbaluciari" (snail visitors) ; they like this name so much that they even wanted the statue of the snail (Vittoria) in the center of Piazza Vittoria (hence the name of the snail), along Corso Umberto I.
It aims to rediscover the value of inertia , the passage of time as seen by a snail, living its life slowly and enjoying it in all its splendor.
The work was commissioned by the municipal council.
