Geotouristic Ring of the Loana Valley

The route begins at the end of the communal road of Valle Loana, where you cross the homonymous stream on the footbridge located at the end of the large dirt square. Leaving Alpe Le Cascine on your right, you continue along the wide plateau, at the end of which the ascent towards the Fornaci area (1360m, water point) begins. From here, hikers can choose to follow the Lower Ring, descending to the base of the last stepped ramp, turning right, crossing the Loana stream again at a small ford and continuing on a tractor track on the right side of the valley, passing Alpe Loana (1320m) to return to the starting point in the area of Fondo Li Gabbi. For the Upper Ring, however, the ascent continues, passing through Alpe Cortenuovo (1790m) and quickly gaining altitude up to Alpe Scaredi (1840m), home of the homonymous bivouac, on the watershed with Val Portaiola and access point to the Val Grande National Park. Following the ridge, you ascend the northern slope of Cima della Laurasca until you reach the fork (2020m), where you turn left, cutting across the basin overlooking the Laghetti del Marmo until you reach the saddle (2060m), where you cross over, and with a long traverse, gradually descend to Alpe Cortechiuso (1880m). From here, you climb back up the ridge, following it, mainly keeping to the side of the Valle Loana, until reaching Forcola (1700m), from where a steep switchback descent begins to Alpe Loana, rejoining the last part of the Lower Ring and then returning to Fondo Li Gabbi (1260m).
