Description by the author

From the departure at the ice skating rink, take the wide path heading southeast. The first stretch allows for very easy and independent travel even for people with reduced mobility or visual impairments. In fact, the road layout has been designed to provide appropriate stability for wheelchair use, and guiding elements have been put in place for orientation and protection in points at risk of falling. The environment remains mountainous and is therefore subject to changes that may be unexpected; thus, for individuals with special needs and difficulties, the presence of an accompanying person is still recommended. Already in the first steps, one can perceive the strong presence of the natural environment of the forest going uphill and the stream that flows fiercely at the center of the valley. The latter creates a very picturesque waterfall near the path, known as “la Gorgia,” which, in the center of the village, offers the spectacle of a powerful waterfall drop of several tens of meters. After enjoying the visual and auditory spectacle of the Gorgia, the path delves further into the mountainside. In the vegetation, one can encounter the songs of numerous species of alpine birds and the movement of terrestrial wildlife in the woods. After passing through the densest part of the forest, one finds themselves in a more open area near the Pakinò ski lift. Here, the panoramic view opens to the rocky slopes of Uja di Mondrone (summit altitude 2964 m), showcasing the striking beauty of the pyramid peaks on which numerous athletes challenge themselves. Using a good pair of binoculars, it may be possible, with a bit of luck, to spot some experienced hikers traversing the higher trails or, with patient searching, to see some of the many ibex that inhabit the valley and occasionally reach the village itself. Here ends the most accessible section of the route, and a climb begins that, facing south, ascends the slope on which the baby Pakinò ski lift stretches, where in winter, even for the smallest, it is possible to learn alpine skiing techniques. Ascending the slope, along the trail or following the forest path, one easily reaches the Arbosetta pasture, from which one descends again towards the south along the rural road no. 214B that connects to the Frè district. You then find yourself at the mouth of the Servin Valley, which has a wild and pure charm. Once you admire the scenic view to the south, you cross the Rio Paschiet immediately entering the forest path that, on the opposite bank, leads in a northeast direction. Continuing along this track no. 214C, one crosses midway across the wooded slope. Among the trees and clearings, it will be possible once again to glimpse the alpine fauna and further away, the peaks and slopes of the mountains surrounding the valley. With a short stretch of slightly steeper descent, still on a wide and well-maintained path, you reach the plateau of the Albaron Village where the hiking section concludes. By taking the internal streets of the village, it is possible to return to the starting point, stopping for a refreshment break or for a longer stay in the welcoming tourist facilities of Balme, some of which are perfectly equipped and competent for hosting people with disabilities or difficulties.
