Three Valleys (Tvt)

The hiking itinerary 3 VALLATE (3V) is so named because it starts from the Malone Valley, crosses the Tesso Valley, and concludes after traveling longitudinally through the entire Val Grande di Lanzo. It is a very varied trek that descends on the pre-Alpine and Alpine ridges, touching some inhabited centers, mainly developing in areas at medium altitude where it encounters wooded areas and pastures, reaching, in some sections, high mountain altitudes that are very panoramic and suggestive among hills and lakes where the peaks that separate the Lanzo Valleys from the Orco Valley and Locana Valley are reflected.

Thanks to the varied and articulated nature of the route, the stopping places offer very different opportunities. They consist of both small tourist and agritourism facilities, typical of the villages encountered, and private huts located at the altitudes of the pastures, culminating in the most intense and adventurous experience of the always-open bivouac available to hikers who need to spend a night at high altitude.

The routes take place on trails or well-marked trail traces and partly on dirt roads leading to the pastures and forest tracks. All these paths can be traveled without the need for equipment during the optimal period from May/June to October, but the length and elevation gain of some stages require a good level of training. Although the stages are exposed from east to west, and therefore progressively increasing in altitude, the choice of direction is absolutely free, keeping in mind that the tendency of the sections is to have a greater ascent in the direction from east to west, while conversely, the stages gradually reduce the effort and fatigue required.

The route partially coincides with the Alta Via Canavesana, allowing connections to the Locana Valley side, in the Municipality of Corio, and diverting north from the territory of Groscavallo towards the Gran Paradiso Park. It then connects at the western end with the GTA itineraries and the Alta Via delle Valli di Lanzo and therefore, for those wishing to extend towards the southwest, to the Tour della Bessanese and to France.
