Bronda Valley Trekking

The Valle Bronda Trekking represents a new addition to the panorama of hiking loops in the province of Cuneo, which already includes many well-known and appreciated trails; the VBT is characterized as a loop route that offers everyone, along its wooded ridges in a horseshoe shape, the chance to enjoy relaxing views, learn about some of its oldest and most precious artistic treasures, and smell the intense scent of the forest.
The itinerary of the Valle Bronda Trekking winds through the municipalities of Castellar, Pagno, and Brondello in this small valley adjacent to the Po Valley and only a few kilometers from Saluzzo, in an area dedicated to fruit cultivation (Valle Bronda apples, grapes including pelaverga, ramassin; in these municipalities, the DOC wine Colline Saluzzesi Pelaverga is produced, and the ramassin plums are a Slow Food presidium). Along the VBT route, various items of historical and artistic interest are located, an authentic treasure chest of art and history: from the countryside chapel of San Ponzio, to the Castellar Castle built on a rocky spur, dating back to the 14th century, to the ancient abbey of SS. Peter and Columban in Pagno, and the Clock Tower that overlooks Brondello with the ancient medieval stone arch bridge. The proposed route leads the hiker first onto the sunny side and then to the more shaded side of the valley, along a path that consistently maintains altitude on the intermontane ridges, descending only to reach the accommodation facilities located in the three towns of Castellar, Pagno, and Brondello. A loop that is walkable for most of the year, suitable for everyone given the type of terrain, its layout, and the length of the individual stages, which are well-marked. The VBT also presents itself as a notable MTB loop due to the significant presence of dirt roads and mule tracks that will certainly meet the expectations of all bikers.
