Tafi-LEONARDO DA VINCI-Route by StepH

Monte Albano is a beautiful mountain range of about 400 meters in height, flanking the town of Vinci. And on these slopes stands in Anchiano (2 km from Vinci) the birthplace of the great inventor-artist Leonardo da Vinci. This route takes you through some less trafficked roads, but that doesn't mean they are any less beautiful! After a short warm-up, we start the ascent from Lamporecchio to Fornello. Just before Vinci, we turn left towards Anchiano, the birthplace of Leonardo, and pass (and visit?) his birthplace. We reach Vitolini via direct routes. There we begin an ascent that I call Poggio dei Colli. The Giro cyclists raced here in a time trial in 2004! At the top, we start a magnificent descent towards Capraia E Limite. After a flat section (less flat), we begin the gentle panoramic ascent from Vinci towards San Baronto. We pass the chapel and begin a narrow descent that leads us to the Total gas station, near the feeder road to Borghetto Andrea Tafi. Have fun cycling in the hills of the great Leonardo da Vinci!
