More than 10,000 participants take part every year in a tradition that is now a World Heritage Site. This takes place the Tuesday after Pentecost. The Luxembourg procession in Echternach is called the dancing procession or Sprangprëssioun. In the Middle Ages the tradition wast to take three steps forward then one back. Through the chaos that this caused the method changed in 1947. They tied the participants with white handkerchiefs together and jump on the beat of the processional march.
