We did this beautiful, well-signposted hike on 06.06.2023

We parked the car in the large pedestrian parking lot in Berdorf. Since the route is mainly through the forest, it is an ideal summer walk. In Echternach we didn't go to the center.

"This upper walk starts at the basilica in the heart of the city of Echternach (or in the parking lot of the amphitheater in Berdorf). The route climbs steeply to the Trooskneppchen viewpoint. Shortly afterwards we reach the Wollefsschlucht followed by the Aesbachtal. On the next route, the road passes the spectacular rock formations of Labyrinth, Perekop, Malakoff and Chipka Pass. Halfway it crosses the Huellee/Hohllay, which served as a mill quarry. A few steps further you reach the Breechkaul, an open-air stage that is set up as an amphitheater. Along the Wëllkeschkummer rock formation, you cross the Halsbaachbach and reach the Geierslee Pavilion. From the vantage point, the descent into the Aesbach valley begins. Parallel to the old mill canal, the local hiking trail E1 leads to the starting point in Echternach.
