'Schoenfels' is a village located on the 'Mamer'. The hike starts at the church and climbs quickly on a paved road. Once in the forest, we still have to climb. Then it goes down into the Eischtal. In the Reckenerwald we pass beautiful rock formations where we find caves that provide shelter for bats. To protect the bats, these caves are closed by gates in winter. In the other seasons the caves are open. Adventurous hikers can explore them with a flashlight. Schönfels also has a beautiful castle, which is unfortunately a bit dilapidated. It should not be visited. The only downside to this walk is the noise of the nearby busy street, but that's made up for by the beautiful surroundings.
