It is a short but very pleasant walk. We made the best of it.

In the forest between Mersch and Schönfels there are impressive rock formations and caves that make the hearts of all nature lovers beat faster.

The highlight of this hike is certainly the "Mamerleees", which consist of natural sandstone caves and a network of artificial tunnels. The system of these caves stretches for a thousand meters. Particularly impressive is the "Huellee" (cave) with a view of the imposing keep of Schönfels Castle, which has its origins in a castle complex built in 1292 by Friedrich "Ferry" von Schönfels.

But in addition to the many rock formations and caves, there are many other highlights on the Guttland.Trail Mamerleeeën that invite you to relax:

At the "Huellee" there is an impressive picnic table with a view of Schönfels Castle. If you continue walking, you will reach the local recreation area "Hunnebur", a place where many benches around the fairytale pond invite you to relax in the middle of nature. At the end, the path leads through the small, natural valley "Wollefsgriecht".
