Mertert is a commune in the province of Luxembourg. The municipality covers an area of 15.25 km2 and had 3490 inhabitants on 1 January 2007. The only port in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg is located in Mertert on the Moselle.
This beautiful, varied hike starts in the park of 'Mertert'. We continue to the river 'Syr', which we follow upstream. A forest road crosses the rock formations of 'Michelslay' and leads the hiker over 100 steps (we counted 137) to the viewpoint 'Am Jongeboesch' to descend into the picturesque valley of the 'Schlammbaach'. The road continues on a plateau to the starting point. Quite a difficult walk
