Discover all benefitsDrive southwest of the village of Müllerthal (Mëllerdall) to the Schiessentümpel parking lot along trail 121. Cross the road and climb the stairs to the signpost on the forest path. To the right is the famous Schiessentümpel, which we will pass later.
So first turn left and follow the signs "W6" to Waldbillig. It immediately climbs. You ascend a staircase between the rocks, turn right with the path, and reach a wider forest road that you follow to the left. It now goes almost flat to a T-junction.
Here you turn right and continue deeper into the forest. When you leave the forest, you find yourself in front of a golf course. You walk between the greens to an intersection where you enter directly into the forest. Along a field, follow the edge of the forest on your left until the next green.
Here you turn right. On your left, you can see Waldbillig. Cross the narrow asphalt road and continue to descend between fields and meadows until you can return to the forest. You quickly cross a spring creek. The signage "W6" leads you further along a narrow forest path above the staircase that leads to the Bëllegerbaach. Do not cross the creek here yet, but follow it downstream to the next bridge.
Now cross it and continue along the creek on the other bank. You pass a campsite and a little further the Heringermühle, a former water mill that today houses a tourist information center with a museum and restoration. Before house number "4", you turn right.
You pass the pencil monument, which depicts a giant Mikado. Further information can be found on the information boards. You cross another bridge and pass in front of the campsite until you reach an asphalted road. Follow the path along the road and cross the black Ernz at the first bridge to the right. Turn left here and follow the river upstream. Between two green wire fences, take the staircase that leads up to your right. At the top of the staircase, turn right onto the field path. This road gradually ascends towards the campsite. You will arrive at a forest road which you take a short distance to the left, then immediately ascend the staircase to the right. You walk along the rock wall to the Schiessentümpel, an idyllic waterfall with a rustic bridge from 1874. It is considered the most photographed place in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. For the best photos, go down a staircase to the river.
If you find 6 km long enough, you can cross the bridge to the right along the asphalt path to the parking lot.
For the complete tour, you cross the bridge and the asphalt road and directly enter the forest. From now on, follow the red "M" of the Müllerthal Trail. You cross an asphalt road and continue to ascend. You continue long on a wooden bridge and a hilly path that winds along the rocks. Then you need to cross the Eulenburg, a fantastic rock formation with narrow gorges. You walk the whole way on rocky stairs. Afterwards, you continue to enjoy the rugged rock formations and the beautiful path. You pass a rest bench and follow the Goldfraly.
Here you do not descend on the asphalt road, but continue along the path by the Goldkaul, eventually arriving at an intersection with Breidweiler Street to a picnic area.
The Müllerthal Trail continues here on the other side of this road. But this loop is 33 km long. So turn right, uphill towards Breidweiler. This part of the hike is not signposted. Just before the asphalt road turns left, you follow the forest road, diagonally to the right. You first climb through the forest, then between fields and meadows until you reach another asphalt road.
Here you turn right and immediately pass the village sign 'Breidweiler'. You pass the "Distillerie Difrulux" or even better, you enter for a free snack...
Fortunately, it then descends into the village. In the distance, you can see the church of Waldbillig. At the end of the road, you will find yourself at the church in Breidweiler. At the corner is a sandstone monument inscribed "MDCCCX".
Turn right and follow the "Rue du Village - Duerfstrooss". Shortly after the small cemetery, the road turns right out of the village. On the left side, you see an impressive farmhouse at house number 16. Here you have two options:
1. (500 m) You turn left and take the road next to the farm. The road immediately becomes unpaved. You descend between (but not through) the meadows and through the forest. The last 200 meters can be heavily overgrown with nettles and cannot be crossed without aids and long pants. If you succeed, you will end up on an asphalted path to Echternach (trail 118).
2. (1000 m) You are required to follow the asphalt path that continues descending and sharply turns left, ending on an asphalted path to Echternach (trail 118).
You follow it to the left until you reach an intersection with a metal emergency bridge. Just before that, you can turn right into the woods. The path quickly crosses a wooden bridge, and you continue along the Müllerthal path to the parking lot where you started.
