Parking is available at the Winseler town hall. After following the village street for a while, you turn right onto a paved country road that goes to PC 20. Once you have reached the PC 20, the walking path follows the cycle path that was constructed on the former railway line between Kautenbach and Bastogne. You soon pass through an old, well-restored railway tunnel and then continue following the PC20 until you reach the hamlet of Schleif.

Although only about ten inhabitants live in this village, it has a fundamental significance in regional history. During the construction of the railway between Wiltz and Bastogne, building materials were stored in Schleif. In addition, excavation work was started there for a tunnel to Benonchamps in Belgium. By the way: Schleif owes its name to the Middle High German "Slîfe", which means "grinding mill". There is also a place to stop for a drink in Schleif.

After this well-deserved break we return to Winseler. In the direction of Grümmelscheid, along the Wiltz river and through the forest.
