The route starts in Vianden and runs along the Our reservoir (the lower basin) to Bivels (i.e. a few relatively flat kilometres at first).
Then the ascent to the upper basin of the reservoir (the ascent from Saint-Nicolas via a road closed to car traffic). Once at the top, you can visit the viewpoint on the tank.
You will then cycle about 15 kilometers on a plateau (including an incline) before starting a long descent to Kautenbach.
In Kautenbach, the ascent follows the Konerhaff coast with many hairpin bends and then it goes down to the Wiltz.
In the Wiltztal you follow the cycle path (PC) along the Wiltz, then you follow the ascent to the Nocher Plateau.
The route then leads down to Büderscheid and you cycle to Kaundorf, partly on side roads. The route then continues to the Sauer reservoir (Upper Sûre) and Bavigne: they rise from the Sûre valley west of the reservoir. After a piece of plateau, descend back to the tank and cross the tank a second time, this time over the Misery Bridge. Then it goes up and down to the reservoir, but halfway it goes uphill again, this time towards the town of Eschdorf. Then it goes steeply down to the very picturesque town of Esch-sur-Sûre (one of the most beautiful villages in Luxembourg). After this village, you will get busier roads over a distance of one kilometer.
Then you follow the rather quiet N27 for about five kilometers into the Sauer Valley. In Toodlermillen there is an ascent of almost 5 km of road from the Sûre valley. Then you cycle a few kilometers on a plateau and descend into the valley of the Wark River, to the town of Welscheid. Then you leave the Warktal via an inland road with four hairpin bends to Bourscheid. From Bourscheid it goes down to the Sûre.
Then there is the ascent of the Feischterbierg, which is considered by some to be the most beautiful ascent in Luxembourg. Via Bourscheid and past the large Bourscheid Castle, it goes down to the Sûre. Then you follow the Sauer again and climb up to the Maarkebach, followed by a short descent and ascent to Gralingen (passage of the valley of the Blees).
Across the valley of the Blees, you cycle to Brandenburg, where the castle ruins rise above the village, and follow a short ascent and descent to get to the next valley of the stream.
After that, it is a (relatively short) climb to get out of this valley of the stream. Via two cycle paths (free cycle paths) you cycle downhill to Vianden.
Food along the way: There aren't many restaurants on this street. It is 66 km in Boulaide, 72 km in Arsdorf and 87 km in Esch-sur-Sûre. It is also possible in Bourscheid (after 109 km or after 117 km slightly different from the route (you come to Bourscheid twice)).
