In the past, Hoorn has been a real trading city. The warehouses of the Dutch East India Company, located at Doelen- and Veermanskade and Onder de Boompjes, still testify to that. Hoorn is alive, even now. There are many events such as the "Day of the Horse," "The Steam Festival," "Donkey Day," "Shirt Race," and "Patchwork Day." The local tourist office can tell you all about it.
