The famous White Town of Thorn already existed in 922. Driving through the town it is not difficult to remember the life of long ago. The bumpy streets are bordered by houses in which the noble canons and canonesses used to live. For more than eight hundred years it was the capital of a marker, headed by a princess. It had its own army, had its own coins and had its own jurisdiction. The independence of the principality lasted until 1794. The route leads through the entire village and a stop at the Vineyard is highly recommended. Please note the maximum parking time of 30 minutes. The Vineyard has an ornamental pavement of mesh cobblestones and a lighting of gas lamps. This includes the Town Hall and many of the previously described houses. In front of you rises the high stately Stifts- or Abbey church from the 14th century. It is a Gothic cruciform basilica with a beautiful interior, the Museum of Ecclesiastical Art is housed in it.
After a walk through the unique town, a bite in one of the cozy restaurants is a nice ending.
