Hemmen Castle or Hemmen House is a former Dutch castle, located west of the village of Hemmen on the river Linge, in the municipality of Overbetuwe, province Gelderland.De history of hemmen castle goes back to the 14th century. The first mention of the castle dates from 1361, mentioned as a fief of the Holy Roman Empire to knight Borre van Doornick. Through a marriage of his daughter Elisabeth it passed to her husband: Steven van Lynden, lord of Hemmen from 1375, after which it remained in the Van Lynden family until 1931. He belonged to one of the most important and oldest noble families in the Netherlands. There is no certainty as to what the medieval castle looked like. The available drawings of the lock should be critically examined. It is likely that there were various towers, extensions, wings and a courtyard.
