The Termunterzijldiep or simply Zijldiep is a canal in the east of the Dutch province of Groningen. Originally it was built as a drainage canal, later it grew into an important shipping connection and today it is mainly used by water recreationists. The deep starts at the confluence of the Meedendiep and the Opdiep north of the Winschoterdiep and flows from there to the north through the hamlet of Scheemderzwaag. A little further north it passes deep on the east side the polder mill De Dellen and then on the west side successively the villages Nieuw-Scheemda and 't Waar, where it flows into Buiten Nieuwediep on the west side. A little further on, it is deeply connected to the more westerly Hondshalstermeer by an unnamed connecting channel, on which it enters Nieuwolda deeply, where the Kattendiep flows from the east. After Nieuwolda it runs straight for 2 kilometers to the drawbridge Scheve Klap at the polder De Leegte. This was done when digging because at the time De Siepe flowed here, which could serve for further drainage. That is why this is the only straight in the otherwise quite winding route of the Termunterzijldiep. Nowadays, a second connecting canal flows from the Hondshalstermeer from the west at the Scheve Klap. Beyond the Scheve Klap it bends deep to the northeast and flows into the Ems after a few more kilometers near the village of Termunterzijl.
