Museum Drachten, also known as Museum Dr8888, is a museum for modern and contemporary art located in the center of Drachten, at Museumplein. Museum Dr8888 is housed in a former Franciscan monastery in the center of Drachten. The religious order founded by Saint Francis of Assisi saw Drachten as a suitable location for a Franciscan monastery because the 1930 census showed that secularization was increasing in Friesland. Architect H.H. de Graaf from Den Bosch designed the building plan in the style of the Delft School.
