The Eschmarke

Eschmarke is a Vinex neighborhood in the east of Enschede, in the Dutch province of Overijssel. Until 2010, about 4,471 homes were built, completing the entirety of Eilermarke in 2014. Eschmarke includes the neighborhoods Beekveld, Cascade, De Leuriks, Eekmaat-West, Eilermarke, Eschmarkerveld, and Oikos. The neighborhoods Oikos and Beekveld lie to the south of the village of Glanerbrug and are officially part of it. The remaining neighborhoods fill the entire area between Enschede and Glanerbrug. To prevent routes for animals between the areas of South Eschmarke and the Aamsveen on one side and the Dinkel area and Hoge Boekel on the other from being cut off, three ecozones are being established from north to south. In the west, a forest zone is created by saving or planting many existing trees on the residential plots and by integrating two cemeteries. Centrally in the neighborhood, a heathland zone of approximately 20 hectares is being established. In the east, a wetland zone has been created along the Glanerbeek.
