The Rutbeek is a Dutch recreation area, located in East Overijssel in the municipality of Enschede. It is located southwest of Enschede, in the direction of the neighboring Buurserzand and the municipality of Haaksbergen.The Rutbeek was created by sand excavation. Already in the sixties of the twentieth century there were plans for the construction of a recreation area. Construction started in 1977, the first section was opened to the public in 1978, and the area was completed in 1982. The Rutbeek is managed by the Twente Region, an intermunicipal partnership.
