The Follega mill is a spider head mill built in 1857 in the Frisian town of Follega. The mill was completely refurbished in 1969 to grind up the mill chamber of the water mill of Laag-Keppel. Due to the canalization of the Oude IJssel, the gradient had become too small for the watermill to be able to work anymore and artificially lowering the level in the mill chamber by about 1.5 m. was an opportunity to make the watermill operational again without moving it. The Follega mill is unique in that it is the only windmill that is used to run a water mill. However, the mill is too small for the watermill of Laag-Keppel to function optimally.
