The Doesburgermolen is a closed standerd grist mill with an old tail construction and is one of the oldest windmills in the Netherlands. The standerd shows that it must have been an open standerdmolen in the past. The west side of the standerd is strongly weathered. The current mill is the successor of a much older mill, which can already be seen on a map from 1568. It is a so-called ground sailer: the points of the sails almost go over the ground, they can be seasoned from the ground and the sails can be applied to the sails from the ground. In the oak spindle is the number 1507, which is interpreted as a year, but probably incorrectly. According to dendrochronological research, the 60 cm thick standerd itself was made from a tree felled between 1618 and 1628. The current mill must have been built after about 1620.
