Museum Buurtspoorweg

Stichting Museum Buurtspoorweg operates a museum railway between Haaksbergen and Boekelo in the Netherlands. The association was founded in 1967 and since 23 June 1989 has been the first railway company to hold a railway concession alongside the NS.
In 1964, a group of tram enthusiasts founded the Comité Vrienden van het Trammuseum. After the cessation of passenger services on the route of the Ahaus-Enschede Railway, the CvTM acquired its first vehicle in 1966 with its railcar T 10. The siding of the former gasworks at the AEE terminus at Enschede Zuid was used for accommodation. The following year, the CvTM was transformed into a foundation and renamed "Stichting Museum Buurtspoorweg". It was planned to build a museum line on the AEE line from Enschede to the state border at Broekheurne, which was closed in the same year, in order to preserve the branch line atmosphere there. In the following years, other light and branch line vehicles, mainly from Germany, were taken over, including a steam locomotive and a Wismar railbus from the Delmenhorst-Harpstedt Railway. From 10 May 1969, these vehicles were used for individual journeys on the section between Enschede and Broekheurne. However, the line was finally closed and demolished in 1970 by the new owner NS.
