The mill was built in 1910, using a demolished mill from Tjamsweer. In 1941 the mill was dismantled, after which the mill hull served as a mill on diesel power. The Oortman family sold in 1983 to the Molenstichting Lattrop-Tilligte. The foundation had the mill restored. A large part of the mill was rebuilt and the mill was also moved a bit. Since then, the mill has been put into operation by volunteer millers.
