The best-known part of the Schoorl Dunes, the highest dunes in the Netherlands covering an area of 1800 ha, is the Klimduin. This dune is climbed and descended by many tourists on the steep side near the village. An ancient tradition in Schoorl is the girls' market on the second Pentecost day, a village festival at the Klimduin.
