At the Veecaterdijk along the IJssel you have a beautiful view of the IJssel and the Vreugderijkerwaard. In this floodplain of the IJssel, the Vereniging van Natuurmonumenten has developed a Nature Development Project. Across the river lies Zalk. Beyond this village, the IJssel makes its last two bends, leaving the sandy soil and searching its way over the river and sea clay to the IJsselmeer. In the bend past Zalk stands the Tea House, and from here the Zalk ferry operates for the crossing to Zalk. Opening hours: from mid-April until the end of the autumn holidays, Mon. to Sun. 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM. In June, July, and August also in the evening: 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM. The Tea House is open daily from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, outside the sailing season on Mon. to Fri. from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
