How it all started... On 27 May 1840, the Municipality of Zevenbergen granted a permit to the Gebroeders Paulus and Johannes Mol for the establishment of a scaffolding grist mill on the Lage Wipstraat and more than a year later the construction was completed. These brothers are originally from Oudenbosch but have been living in the Zevenbergen since 1816. Before the construction of the windmill, however, there was already a horse driven mill, but when it was built is not known. The two brothers are millers and also farmers and in 1903 the mill is sold to Johannes van de Noort who installed a gas engine in it in 1908. Around 1921 he sold the mill to Alphons Buys, who sold it again in 1928 to a Eugenius Buys, miller in Klundert. A year later the mill was bought by Wilhelmus Damen who remained the owner until 1969. After 1969, the municipality bought the mill. The mill started to decay in 1939 and even before the war the mill was stripped of its roof and scaffolding. And that's how it happened... At the beginning of 1994, the current owner, Mr. W. Toonders, conceived the plan to restore the mill and the surrounding land for the symbolic amount of 1 guilder. The most important thing about the restoration was to put it right again. of the mill, the mill was 15 ? 25 cm crooked and without Mr Donkers the mill would not have become level. The restoration was labour-intensive, all the more so since there were no old drawings available. On March 17, 2000, the mill is officially opened and after many, many years, it is running again! Source: in "Oud Nieuws", the edition of the Oudheidkundige Kring of August 1994 (14th volume no.2) there is an extensive article about the mill and you can also find the genealogy of the miller family Mol.
