Colijnsplaat is the home port of the fishing fleet of Veere, and there is a marina with approximately 500 berths.
Near Colijnsplaat, there was a settlement called Ganuenta. Here, there was a temple dedicated to the goddess Nehalennia. In 1970, parts of a Nehalennia altar were recovered near Colijnsplaat. At the beginning of the 21st century, a Gallo-Roman temple was reconstructed.
