The Bellamypark, located near the De Ruyter Marina and the promenade, is the vibrant entertainment heart of Vlissingen. Although you can also find many dining and drinking options elsewhere, you will find the highest concentration of cafés, bars, restaurants, and other entertainment venues in and around this small city park. It is no coincidence that this is also the place where major events such as the Liberation Festival and the Street Festival are held, and where the annual fair is always found.
The park, which was established in the early last century on the then-filled Koopmanshaven, is named after the poet Jacobus Bellamy (1757-1786), whose romantic work 'Roosje' has long been one of the most popular poems in Dutch literature. His birthplace, which in 1880 received a facade stone with his likeness, is still located at Bellamypark no. 30.
In addition to the many terraces, you will also find the Iguana Reptile Zoo and a fountain in memory of the Vlissingen writers Betje Wolff and Aagje Deken at the Bellamypark.
