Description

1679 - Stadholder Willem III stays in the Town Hall, where sleeping accommodation is provided.
July 14, 1854 - Prince William of Orange, the eldest son of King William III, visits the Old Town Hall, the Van Heutsz barracks, the Bovenkerk and the Forge, accompanied by his governor Jhr. F.F. de Casembroot.
April 27, 1862 - King William III visits the Old Town Hall and has a conversation with the City Archivist about the former Forge and the Bovenkerk. He eats at the New City Inn.
July 18, 1874 - Queen Sophie of Orange-Nassau is the 1st Orange monarch to visit Kampen.
June 28, 1901 - Paul Kruger visits our city as President of the South African Republic from June 28 - July 4, 1901. During the reception in the Town Hall, he appears on the balcony and is applauded by the Kamper population. (see photo)
18 October 1979 - Queen Juliana pays a working visit to Kampen and looks at the Orange portraits in the council chamber.
April 18, 1985 - M.C. MacArthur, army commander in WWII, has liberated Kampen with his troops and appears on the balcony in 1945. In 1985 he is here again at the commemoration of this event.
8 September 1989 - Mr. Pieter van Vollenhove performs the opening of the National Heritage Day. A buffet is served in the Schepenzaal.
