The Christian Lyceum is now known with a mouthful as the Carolus Clusius location of the Agnieten College. Those who visit the school on Veerallee can still find the memorial stone in the old staircase with the names of eight students who fell during the war years. In the bloom of their lives, around 20 years old and on the eve of a beautiful professional career. In the early war years, classes were still taught 'normally' at the Christian Lyceum. In 1942, the school had to close due to a shortage of fuel. After a short resumption of classes in the spring of 1943, the entire school building was requisitioned by the Germans in the following academic year. Classes continued in the most impossible locations, for example, in church council rooms. Eventually, teaching became impossible, and education was suspended. It wasn't until May 22, 1945, that it became possible for students to attend classes again. However, not yet in their own school building, as this was temporarily taken over by the English. From the 1945-1946 academic year onwards, everything returned to normal, and the lyceum had its own school building again.
