In Pesse, even more traces of former habitation have been found, including house plans of farms from the Bronze Age, Iron Age, and early Middle Ages up to the year 1000. Most of these finds were made south of the current road, the Oostering, in Pesse. Excavations have also uncovered remains of a Neolithic burial ground. Outside the village, there is still something to see from this prehistoric past of Pesse; to the west of the Boerveenseplassen lies a burial mound (cremation mound) from the Iron Age/Roman period.
