Dalfsen ; Low Saxon: Dalsen) is a village in the Dutch province of Overijssel. It is the capital of the municipality Dalfsen.De name Dalfsen first appears in official documents from the year 1231. Dalfsen is the only larger town on the Overijsselse Vecht that has never been granted city rights. This is related to the proximity of Castle Rechteren. This castle stands in relation to the village of Dalfsen just on the south side of the Vecht and was built in the year 1320. It has been inhabited by the same family since the 15th century.
